There’s been a shift in focus of late as it relates to corporate social responsibility; specifically, a company’s commitment to enhancing the environment and society, not contributing to its destruction.

Companies that have embraced this new approach have discovered that the decision to recycle is an excellent way to build connection with its customers, as they value vendors like Dell that care about the environment.

Addressing the growing problem of e-waste

Beyond positive brand sentiment, if we look at e-waste, specifically, one of the main reasons why recycling has become “good for business” is because it’s a remarkably cost-effective way to save money and improve the bottom line. That’s because recycling programs can lead to cost avoidance and free up funding for other initiatives.

If your customers have mentioned interest in minimizing their environmental footprint, they should consider Dell Technologies and its range of recyclable-focused technologies and solutions that are based around its circular economy initiative.

The company has made tremendous strides in redesigning every part of its products so that they can be recycled or reused — as opposed to simply thrown out. By 2030, Dell has stated that for each product it sells, it also aims to recycle or reuse an equivalent product.

Selling recyclability

Indeed, everyone likes the idea of recycling, but how can you sell Dell’s approach to your customers? Simply cut the message down to these innovations:

Smarter design

Dell’s product design is guided by the company’s design for environment approach, corporate environmental policy, and the ISO 14001 standard for managing environmental programs throughout the lifecycle. For the global customer, it’s important to note that Dell’s products are also designed around global regulations and standards, voluntary social and environmental initiatives, and various eco-label programs.

Better materials

Dell uses easily recycled materials in its products and labels them, so its Asset Resale and Recycling partners can identify and put them toward the best possible reuse. The company strives to make all its packaging as eco-friendly as possible, using highly renewable, recyclable materials like mushroom and bamboo. Dell also uses recycled-content materials in its products whenever possible, which helps extend the overall recycling life cycle.

Easily recyclable

When products reach the end of life, Dell makes recycling easy for customers with simple, global takeback options. Some of the materials are returned to the start of our production process while others are sold on to other companies for use in their products. Dell also helps the reuse initiative by selling returned and refurbished products through the Global Dell Outlet, keeping them from being recycled before the end of their useful lives.

Looking ahead

Beyond the reuse and recyclability of these products, your customers should also be aware of how Dell’s working to make its products last longer than ever before. External materials are being designed differently to better resist wear and tear, and on the inside, many of the newer products are being outfitted with artificial intelligence and machine learning that can help these systems adjust over time to improve energy efficiency.

Software, too, can be constantly upgraded and improved upon via the company’s innovative cloud solutions.
