Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery with CyberSense demonstrates a reduction in downtime and business loss from cyberattacks
In the current digital era, the core of every organization’s functioning revolves around their data. Safeguarding this data has become of utmost importance, particularly in the face of sophisticated cyber threats that hinder production servers and standard backups access to critical data. This results in frustrated employees and customers, along with revenue loss and business downtime.
Data resiliency lies in the ability to recover specific data to the right location at the right time, ensuring its availability as needed. The presence of non-compromised clean copy of data is crucial for swift resuming business operations. This is where PowerProtect Cyber Recovery with CyberSense plays a pivotal role.
Dell commissioned Forrester Consulting to conduct a Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study and examine the potential return on investment (ROI) enterprises may realize by deploying Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery. The purpose of the study is to provide practitioners with a framework to evaluate the potential financial impact of PowerProtect Cyber Recovery on their organizations in the event of a cyberattack. The study identifies the costs, benefits, flexibility, and risk factors that affect the investment decision, and the study results are from a composite organization derived from interviewing multiple organizations that have implemented the solution.
Here’s what the Forrester study found:
· Reduction in Data Recovery Time by 80%. Following a ransomware attack, the composite organization recovered its data with 80% less effort with the solution in place versus without the solution. Data protection teams spent less time locating uncompromised data in the vault and spent less time restoring to resume normal business operations.
· Reduction of System Downtime by 75%. Following a ransomware attack, the composite organization got its systems back online 75% faster with the solution versus without the solution. This reduced the disruption in employee productivity, operations, services, and less negative publicity that might affect the business brand reputation.
While the quantifiable benefits are considerable, Forrester Consulting also identified other qualitative benefits such as Insurance Savings, Resiliency Mindset, Easier Audits and Employee Reassurance.
Dell’s PowerProtect Cyber Recovery isn’t just a cyber security solution, it’s an investment in peace of mind for both you and your customers. It empowers customer organizations to safeguard their data, recover from cyberattacks with speed and efficiency, and build resiliency in an increasingly digital world.
When a cyberattack happens, you and your customers want the right solution in place to help mitigate the attack, restore uncorrupted data, and resume normal business operations as quickly as possible.
According to the 2022 Dell Global Data Protection Index (GDPI) survey, organizations have experienced higher levels of natural and modern disasters than in previous years, resulting in more data loss, downtime and recovery costs. In the past year, cyberattacks accounted for 48% of all disasters (up from 37% in 2021), leading all other causes of data disruption. The survey also revealed 85% of organizations using multiple data protection vendors see a benefit in reducing their number of vendors. Furthermore, it revealed that organizations using a single data protection vendor incurred 34% less cost recovering from cyberattacks or other cyber incidents than those who used multiple vendors.
The GDPI survey found that 91% of organizations are either aware of or planning to deploy a Zero Trust architecture – a cybersecurity model that shifts how organizations approach security from relying solely on perimeter defenses to a proactive strategy that only allows known, authorized traffic across system boundaries and data pipelines. However, only 23% are deploying a Zero Trust model and 12% are fully deployed. With embedded security features designed into the hardware, firmware and security control points, Dell’s holistic approach helps organizations achieve Zero Trust architectures to strengthen cyber resiliency and help reduce security complexity.

Cyber and ransomware attacks are the enemy of today’s data-driven business. This is the very same data that cyber-attacks and ransomware target. Cyber-attacks threaten every industry, and the impact of being unable to recover critical data and resume business operations after an attack can be devastating. Cyber threats are already causing trillions of dollars’ worth of damage, and Accenture forecasts over $5T of global value at risk over the next five years.
Many organizations are moving away from a focus on cybersecurity and toward a more comprehensive approach known as cyber resilience. Rather than hope that they can defeat cyber threats 100 percent of the time, they are instead assuming that a cyber-attack will eventually succeed, and the organization will need to recover from the attack and then resume operations as quickly and cost-efficiently as possible. For enterprises to do this they need the ability to recover business-critical data and systems after a cyber incident, with unaffected or “clean” copies of applications and data sets intact.
PowerProtect Cyber Recovery has been designed to recognize and anticipate sophisticated threats
PowerProtect Cyber Recovery protects and isolates critical data from ransomware and other sophisticated threats. Machine Learning (ML) identifies suspicious activity and allows organizations to recover known good data and resume normal business operations with confidence. The benefits of PowerProtect Cyber Recovery are significant as they:
•Reduce the business risk of lost data from cyber-attacks
•Modernize data protection with intelligent and automated cyber recovery
•Efficiently recover “known good” data and resume business operations
With innovative automation and intelligent tools, data can be easily isolated from the attack surface and protected in a dedicated secure vault.
How PowerProtect Cyber Recovery delivers is the unique differentiator
•Isolation – Separating critical data with an operational air gap provides critical data, production, and backup environments with physical and logical isolation from attack surfaces
•Immutability – Multiple layers of security and controls protect data against destruction, deletion, or alteration
•Intelligence – Leveraging machine learning (ML) and analytics to identify recoverable data and offering insights into attack vectors from within the Cyber Recovery Vault
While the three of these components work independently, they will also work collectively, when necessary, within an integrated solution to provide the maximum levels of security and protection for vaulted data. This intelligent cooperation gives customers the best possible chance to recover vaulted data with integrity and confidence should an attack penetrate the data center.
Furthermore, PowerProtect Cyber Recovery protects data and provides recovery across on-premises and multiple cloud environments including Dell Technologies Cloud, as well as many other leading service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
